The Biggest plant on earth is a tree - the Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum). Sequoias are evergreen trees native primarily to the Sierra Nevada Mountains of eastern California. The very largest has been called the General Sherman tree with a height of 83 metres and a diameter near the base of 11m. The trunk of the tree weighs almost 1400 tons or equivalent to 15 adult blue whales. So not only is it the largest plant on earth, it is also the largest living thing.
